Kimberly Huber is a professor of neuroscience, a Southwestern Medical Foundation Scholar in Biomedical Research and chair of the neuroscience graduate training program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She is also director of a National Institutes of Health Centers for Collaborative Research in Fragile X.

Huber’s research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of synapse development and plasticity in the mammalian brain and the role of genes linked to human intellectual disability and autism. Huber has revealed roles for fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP), an RNA binding protein that is mutated in fragile X syndrome, in multiple aspects of synaptic and circuit function. Most recently, she has explored the functional interactions of FMRP and activity-dependent transcription factors linked to neurological disorders in activity- and experience-regulated synapse and circuit development.
