Enrico Domenici is full professor in the Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology of the University of Trento, where he is leading the Neurogenomic Biomarker Unit and coordinating the M.S. program in Quantitative and Computational Biology. He is also currently President of the Fondazione Microsoft Research – University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology (COSBI).
Domenici joined academia after 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, where he led a number of drug discovery programs aimed at identifying novel targets and biomarkers by combining genetics, genomics and proteomics. Since 2000, his main focus is on the discovery of biomarkers for psychiatric disorders (for both preclinical and clinical use) by the integration of large-scale genomics and proteomics.
He is a member of the CommonMind Consortium, the Psychiatry Genomics Consortium and the Autism Sequencing Project. He is currently involved in the development of the Italian Network for Autism, an autism spectrum disorder family collection with an associated biorepository to enable integrated genetic and biomarker research.
