Stefano Panzeri is a mathematical neuroscientist who works at the interface between theory and experiments. His lab investigates how neuronal circuits encode sensory information and generate behavior.

Panzeri graduated with a degree in theoretical physics from Turin University and then did a Ph.D. in computational neuroscience at Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA), Trieste, Italy. He has held research positions and fellowships at the Universities of Oxford, Newcastle, Manchester and Glasgow in the UK, and Harvard Medical School in the US. He currently works as a senior scientist with tenure at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Rovereto, Italy.
