Matthew Siegel attended Amherst College and Stanford Medical School and completed ‘triple board’ training at Brown University in child and adolescent psychiatry, psychiatry and pediatrics. He is currently the vice president of medical affairs for the Developmental Disorders Service Line of Maine Behavioral Healthcare, a faculty scientist II at the Maine Medical Center Research Institute and an associate professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at Tufts University. He is also director of the Autism and Developmental Disorders Inpatient Research Collaborative (ADDIRC) and Principal Investigator of the Autism Inpatient Collection.

Siegel has authored the current practice guidelines on autism and intellectual disability for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is nationally recognized for building  systems of care and research involving children with autism, intellectual disability and co-occurring emotional and behavioral disorders.
