Shinjae Chung joined the University of Pennsylvania in 2017 as an assistant professor in the Department of Neuroscience. Her research is focused on identifying novel neural circuits underlying sleep control and how they become dysfunctional in neurodevelopmental disorders.
Chung received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. During her graduate work with Olivier Civelli, she studied the functional roles of neuropeptides and G protein-coupled receptors. Then she moved to the University of California, Berkeley to work with Yang Dan to study neural circuits underlying sleep control using cutting-edge systems neuroscience techniques.
