SFARI Investigator Website

Xin Jin is an assistant professor in the Department of Neuroscience and a member of the Dorris Neuroscience Center at Scripps Research. She received her B.Sc. in chemistry from the Massachusettes Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in biology from the Rockefeller University under Cori Bargmann. She was a junior fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows before starting her own lab in 2021.

The Jin lab focuses on studying the generation and maturation of diverse brain cell types, as well as how genetic, physiological and environmental factors contribute to this developmental program to allow brain functions. The lab develops and applies scalable genomic and molecular tools, such as in vivo genetic screening approaches, to dissect tissue- and cell-type specific mechanisms of disease risk genes and variants.
