Tamar Regev is a research scientist at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she works with Evelina Fedorenko. She received a bachelor of science degree in physics and biology from Tel Aviv University, a master’s degree in cognitive systems and interactive media from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and a doctorate in computational neuroscience from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her doctoral research combined EEG and computational modeling to investigate how prior context and musical experience shape pitch perception.

At MIT, Regev studies the neural systems that support speech and language, with a particular focus on prosody—the melody of speech—and its role in communication. Drawing on precision functional MRI, behavioral methods and computational approaches, she examines how prosodic information is represented and interpreted during everyday communication. Regev plans to extend this work to investigate how prosody and other nonverbal aspects of communication are processed in autistic individuals.
