Mentor: Marissa Scavuzzo (Tesar Lab)

Naya Alsouss is a third-year undergraduate student at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is studying biology with minors in chemistry and Spanish and plans to pursue medicine in the future. Naya is interested in working with the enteric nervous system and understanding its function in gastrointestinal health. Furthermore, she is eager to relate this research to neurological disorders to advance innovation in the field of neuroscience. As a SURFiN fellow, Naya is looking forward to working under the mentorship of Marissa Scavuzzo in Paul Tesar’s research laboratory at Case Western Reserve University.
