Jeffery Barrett is the chief scientific officer and director at Genomics plc. He was the former director of Open Targets and a former group leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Barrett built an academic career around using large-scale genomics and genetics to understand human disease and to drive early-stage drug developments for disease treatments, and was instrumental in designing the first generation of genome-wide association studies.
