Alexis Battel is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, where she uses modeling and machine-learning methods to understand the impact of human genetic variation on complex traits, from cellular phenotypes to health and disease. Her laboratory has a particular interest in understanding the regulatory impacts of functional noncoding genetic variants and in developing new methods to evaluate the potential impact of rare variants in personal genomes.
