SFARI Investigator Website

John D. Murray is an associate professor of psychiatry, neuroscience and physics at Yale School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in physics from Yale University, with his thesis research focused on computational neuroscience. He then did postdoctoral research at New York University in the Center for Neural Science. He started as faculty at Yale School of Medicine in 2015.

Research in the Murray lab focuses on computational neuroscience, developing modeling, theoretical and data-analytic approaches to systems neuroscience, in close collaboration with experimentalists. A central research interest is in the development of frameworks for ‘computational psychiatry,’ leveraging circuit modeling to understand neural dynamics and function in psychiatric disorders.
